Are you ready for Thanksgiving? No, I have not lost it. Thanksgiving is a month and a half away, believe it or not. I haven’t started preparing for any holiday cooking, but I guess it’s time to think about it since we are in October. After Halloween, it all goes down hill. Everyone will be running around trying to get a great deal. The madness of  preparing for holiday shopping will be in full swing right after Thanksgiving. Are you a holiday planner or a procrastinator?  I’ll admit I’m a procrastinator most of the time, especially during the holiday season. Yes, I know this is off the realm of my food blogging, but I thought it was amazing what puzzle pieces online gamers put together in three weeks.

What do online gamers and scientists have in common?  According to Yahoo News, they worked together to crack Aids enzyme puzzle. Online gamers were able to figure out the structure of the monomeric protease enzyme in three weeks that scientists were trying to solve for ten years. By online gamers solving the puzzle scientists are able to work on new drugs to block several diseases. It’s not everyday you hear about gamers and scientists working together.

When was your last eye exam? Mine was this year since I’ve been getting headaches from the computers glare and eye strain. Zenni Opticall has eyeglasses for every family I went to see the eye doctor since I needed my annual eye exam and glasses were broken in several places. When I went to the eye doctor he told me I had to get a stronger prescription for my eye glasses.  So I looked for cheap eyeglasses since the prices of eye glasses are soaring.   I spend working on several books and working online doesn’t help my eyes. The eye doctor told me I need to take regular breaks away from the computer screen glare. It’s important otherwise my eyes will get worse. And I don’t want to purchase a stronger eye glass prescription. I’lll take a break to look around the room regularly and I take several breaks away from the computer screen. Actually, taking regular breaks away from computer screen has made me more productive while writing up my book recipes and blogging. I told my family wheat the eye doctor said so their doing the same thing. Sometimes I have to to remind them to rest your eyes to be more productive. So if you’re due for an eye exam look for inexpensive eye glasses online.

Are you jumping for joy? If you are a parent chances are you are jumping over the moon. Why? The kids are back-in-school for another nine months. Back to school isn’t cheap at all so most parents are looking for good deals. If you’re kid is anything like mine you’ll be stocking up on supplies for school lunches. This year I had to buy several food storage containers and a new lunch tote. She’s picky so it took a long time to pick the perfect lunch tote for her school lunch. Luckily, I shopped online so I didn’t have to travel far after shopping online.

I was able to hand her my computer to search for a new lunch tote with two requirements: price and must qualify for a coupon code from Savings.com coupons  which I’ve used several times.  After several hours, my daughter found the lunch tote should was looking for online without it costs a cent of gas, a migraine headache, or an argument. It would’ve been easier if she was younger, but you know how teenagers are about their status at high school.  Coupon codes have saved me a lot of money on back to school supplies for her and saved my sanity this school year.

Writing a book takes a lot of dedication as many writers and authors know. It’s important to take a break to find extremely funny pictures While I was working on my last cookbook I was ready to lose my mind a few times. It was very frustrating trying to get the words to flow correctly and layout the recipes correctly.  It’s not easy to do at all.

You have to write up the recipes then go through several edits. I had to go back and forth with the publisher on the layout a lot. One day the layout was about 1/8 inch off either way. It was very frustrating so I finally walked away from the computer for a while. I went surfing through blog land for awhile to refocus my mind for a few minutes.  I stumbled upon some really funny animal photos, which really cracked me up. I believe the animals were doing a lot of silly things.

After looking at the pictures, I was able to return to my book layout for a few hours. I added a few more chapters of my book in a couple hours. The extremely funny pictures are an easy way to break away from the stresses of writing a book or anything else.
