You could try it with any fruit, but I suggest you use at least one fruit that has a texture such as the apples.
hello hello. hmm. this one seems to be easy to do. however, i want to ask… what is sauerkraut? quite puzzled about that.

Ms Recipes Answer:
Sauerkraut is actually Fermented Cabbage. You can check out a bit of the history and pictures of sauerkraut at Wikipedia

A few readers said someone in their home doesn’t like sauerkraut. If they don’t like sauerkraut you can cook the sauerkraut with some butter, salt, and pepper in a saucepan. Just cook enough on the side and add it to you soup bowl.

Do you have a recipe or willing to submit a recipe? Email nina at askmsrecipe <at> gmail <dot> com

Dorothy L of Women’s Self Esteem Blog asked me a question:

Hello Mrs. R…would you happen to have a recipe for the fabulous ‘Ice Mocha coffee’ that they serve in Star bucks and a few other places?

Ms Recipe’s Answer:
Although, I don’t have Starbucks recipe for Ice Mocha Coffee, I do have a few tricks up my sleeve for economical flavored coffee.

You can do any of these to jazz up the taste of your coffee. I don’t recommend trying them all at once.

1. Pour boiling hot water into your coffee maker.

2. Sprinkle cinnamon over coffee grounds.

3. Pour one cap of vanilla extract over coffee grounds.

4. Pour a couple of drops of mocha, raspberry, peppermint, almond, cinnamon, coconut, or hazelnut extract. You can adjust the amount of extract according to taste buds.

5. Sprinkle a little salt on the coffee grounds to take the bitterness out of the coffee.

6. Let the flavors soak for 5 minutes prior to brewing your pot.

You can buy the extracts at your local grocery stores, specialty stores or online.

wow! this really looks yummy:9 would definitely try it and could I cook this in an oven toaster instead?

Answer:

Yes, you can cook the recipe in a toaster oven. Cook the potato as you normally would in your toaster oven and then follow the directions for mixing the potatoes. Cook the potatoes for about 5 minutes or until they are fully cooked.

What is the difference between: grind, grate and chop in a recipe? If it calls for “grated” cheese can I use my little mini processor which “chops” and/or “grinds?”

Ms Recipe says:

Cheeses that are moist you can use a cheese grater such as the one in the picture. Chopping cheese is cutting it into small pieces. Grinding is something done to coffee beans or hard cheese. Grating is using a cheese grater such as the one in the picture. As for using a mini processor to grate cheese I would not recommend it with soft cheese because it will turn into a ball around the blade. You could use your processor with hard cheese however. I hope I have helped you with your recipe question. Thank You for asking.

You could substitute peaches or pineapple in the Nutty Apricot Crockery-pot Chicken. If you use canned fruit, make sure you drain off the juice before pouring them in the crock-pot. You will need one can of fruit or a couple of the fruit of your choice.

You can also remove the tomato sauce and 1 can of the tomatoes.

3. Another Reader from Genochan’s Blog asked a recipe question about the Nutty Apricot Crockery-pot Chicken

seems delicious..
can we replace chicken with beef? i got allergic with that kind of food..

however, thanks for sharing your yummy recipe

Ms Recipe Says:

You could subsitiue a 1or 2lbs of Chuck Roast or 2 small steaks cut into bite size pieces . Just brown it in 2 tablespoons of olive oil on all sides in a sauce pan prior to placing beef into crockery-pot.

—————————————————————————————————————————-

4. Another reader from Stop War asked a Recipe Question. about the Double Identity Crockery-pot Soup.

can i make it with a pot like Chinese people did?

Ms Recipe Says:

You can use any good size pot to cook it on the stove. If you use meat cook it on the stove for 1 hour or 45 minutes for vegetarian.

———————————————————————————————

Ask Ms Recipe’s Answer:
I use a large oval crockery-pot similar to the one in the picture. The size of the crockery-pot is 5.5 quarts. I hope this helps anyone whose going to cook the soup.

The question was:

What is California Blend? (I live in Canada) I’m guessing it’s a package of vegetables BUT want to make sure. I haven’t met a recipe yet that I can’t screw up.
Thanks.

Ms Recipe says:

California Blend is vegetable blend of cauliflower, broccoli and Carrots. I used the California Blend because it was what I had. You can use any vegetable mixture. I’ve used all sorts of vegetables for this particular recipe.
