Most people would agree that angel food cake just don’t have much flavor. If you jazz up the angel food cake, it’s almost as good as chocolate cake. No nothing cake out do chocolate cake, but I must say cherry cake is not far behind.
Ingredients
1 1/2 Cans Cherry Pie Filling
1 box Angel food cake
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon almond extract
Pinch of black pepper
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. Mix angel food cake according to package directions. Mix in pie filling, vanilla extract, black pepper, and almond extract.
3. Spray 9X13 baking pan with cooking spray then pour cake mix into pan. Bake for 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
Optional: Serve with Cool whip.

What a great recipe! I always used toppings to bring light to angle food cake… never had I thought of actually flavoring the cake!
One of my favorite things to do though is using whole vanilla beans. I just scrape out the paste inside the bean, and add it to the batter!
@ Sara
Thanks I will try vanilla beans, sounds like a good idea.
Ms Recipe
Another excellent idea ms. recipe!
Sara: I also enjoy using whole vanilla beans in my baking! I found a site online that has really really high quality vanilla beans for less than $2 a piece. Check out Beanilla Trading Company at http://www.beanilla.com
Hope this helps!
Thanks again.
I’ve never heard of the angel food cake before but this cherry cake sounds and looks delicious.

Lady Java,
Your correct, but I found you have to do a few things first to post your video.
I found that I had to disable the visual editor in the profile section first. Which you can find if you click on your user name in the upper right hand corner near log out. Once I disable it I was able to embed the video. I The tutorial I found said you have to disable it every time if you want to change something on the post also. Hope this helps anyone who wants to participate in Music Monday.

Thanks

Jodi,
Enjoy it. A lot of people forget that angel cake just needs a little jazzing up.

I also have added a can of crushed pinapples to angel food cake, but doing that you don’t add the water to the mix. In this recipe do you still add the water?
Sue´s last blog post..WW #51 ~ Easter Photos
Sue,
When I cooked it I still left the water in the recipe because cherry filling is thick most of the time. There’s always exceptions to everything as we all know all too well.
