Kitchen Tips #5

March 11th, 2009

1. Pour 1 cup of vinegar in the dishwasher during the rinse cycle to keep from having spots on dishes and hard water build up in dishwasher.

2. Use waded up aluminium foil with baking soda to clean hard to clean pots and pans.  Baking soda is great for cleaning out ovens naturally rather then harsh chemicals. Wipe out oven with damp cloth after cleaning. (Do not use on non-stick/teflon pans. It will scratch them. )

3. Use baking soda on a wet cloth to clean tea/coffee stains off mugs.

4. Run a piece of wax paper through gears of can opener to easily clean them.

5. Use 1/2 cup vinegar with water in spray bottle to clean off surfaces in the kitchen. If you use more vinegar its not going to hurt anything.

6. Place paper towel in a ziploc bag with lettuce to  keep fresh longer. This works for most other vegetables too. I wash off all my veggies except mushrooms after I visit the store. It saves a step when I go to prepare meals. Cutting up broccolli and cauliflower and placing in bags makes great snacks for munchies, rather then junk food.

    Hi.
Very good tips! I didn´t know about the paper towel to keep the vegs fresh, but has logic.
I also use vinegar with water to wash vegetables leafs such as lettuce or spinach and to clean the fridge. Old recipes that work :)
    Good week ahead!
    Mizé.

Thank you for the idea. Vinegar to wash veggies. Good idea, none of us need pesticides.
