Kitchen Tips #4

March 8th, 2009

1.Pour leftover wine into an ice cube tray to use for cooking. Simply drop ice cubes into your favorite recipes.

2.A Pinch is equivalent to 1/8 Teaspoon.

3. Juices such as apple juice and orange juice can be frozen in their cartons. Leftover juices can be frozen in ice cube trays to use in soups, seltzers, and to flavor water.

4. If you find a sale on milk you can freeze it for up to one month. I do this all the time.  It does take a day or two to defrost. I defrost mine in the sink for a few hours and then place in the refrigerator. Shake milk well after defrosting.

5. You can freeze bread products. Just pull them out in the morning. If your in a pinch you can easily defrost them in the microwave.

6.Store unwashed mushrooms in the refrigerator inside a paper back to  keep them fresher longer.

Could you use a bundt cake pan or cheese cake pan to make Texas Sheet Cake??

  6. askmsrecipe on November 14, 2009 12:22 am

    Nanny,
I don’t see why it should be a problem with the bundt pan. I’ve found people using all sorts of shapes for the cake. Someone even made it with a pan the shape of Texas. Let me know how it turns out, I’ve never made one before, but I’m going to now. Thank You
