Saturday Nights Supper Disaster !!!

August 16th, 2008

Tonight’s supper was sloppy joes, fresh tomatoes from my garden and homemade french fries. The homemade fries are simple to make. I cut the potatoes into narrow strips, then put them into a large ziploc bag with a 1/4 cup of oil and sprinkled them with season salt. Unfortunelty while I was trying to mix the french fries in the ziploc bag the bag broke and sprayed oil all over my counter top, walls, floor and me. If anyone knows what its like to deal with cleaning up canola oil off the floor its no fun. I really didn’t want to go skating across my kitchen floor. Its hard enough staying on my feet without added a little oil to the mix.

Dear Ms Recipe! I just want you to know how lovely this blog looks! I am a computer techncian and am just recently getting into owning my own site and blog. I work night and day on it and your site inspires me to keep going! Gorgeous art in the banner and very nicely laid out. I would love to trade links with you and add your site to my front page for awhile. I am a WLS person, lost -114 lb so far. I need a recipe person to recommend. How are your recipes on low sugar?

    Hi Ms Macky,

We have something in common I’ve lost over 100lbs myself so I know all too well what a struggle it is to lose weight. I lost my weight on a low carb diet while still eating. Congrats on a job well done.

I know what a nightmare it is cleaning oil off the floor. Its so easy to miss a bit and go flying if your not careful! I hope it didn’t take too long, but it’s a nasty job I know :-)

I was planning on redoing my kitchen, but this was a little much. :) I used good old fashion vinegar water to clean up. Its great for cleaning kitchen counter tops, and windows. You can even use coffee filters or newspapers to clean the windows.

What a disaster! Surely that’s not part of the recipe! I’m curious how it’s supposed to finish, though — after you’ve mixed the fries in the bag with the oil and seasoned salt (being careful to NOT break the bag!), do you throw them into a pan on the stove or in the oven?

    Identity Crisis Girl,

I cooked it in the oven on 400 degrees for 45 minutes or until fork tender uncovered. I’ve sprinkled it with Parmesan cheese sometimes too, as an alternative.. This is a recipe you can play with.
